I would describe a typical day at work at Intertoys as; fun, busy and social.
The store opens at 9:00, all co-workers are there to prepare the store for opening (preparing the tills, making sure merchandise orderly and neat in appearance) and the store-manager will inform us with the tasks that will have to be done that day.
When the store opens I would be busy assisting customers in a professional way in the store or on the tills. I also make sure that my co-workers are assisting customers friendly.
My co-workers were a lot younger than me. I was the only experienced shop-assistant on the weekends, and it was my job to help the new shop-assistants know their way around the store. I believe I had a good relationship with my co-workers; the new girls on the weekends and the more experienced shop-assistants throughout the week.
The hardest part of the job is that it can be very busy during November and December (Christmas and other holidays in Holland). That means long days at the toy store, even after closing time. This can be a challenge. But it also brings me to the most enjoyable part of the job; making people happy when they leave the store, and knowing that you did a good job helping then get the gift that they were looking for.
